Databases of news content from NewsBank and U.S. Major Dailies offer greater breadth and depth of content than you’ll find from a single publication. They include a number of business-specific publications, as well as business coverage from general newspapers. Searching by keyword or the article title (if known) is the best place to start. If searching for a specific article, check the list of included publications for the newspaper title and date range.

  • Census Business Builder (CBB) - a tool for accessing U.S. Census demographic and economic data, tailored to small business or regional analysis.

  • Economic Census - statistics about U.S. businesses collected every five years by the U.S. Census Bureau.

  • EDGAR Company Filings - research public companies financial and operations information via filings made with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

  • U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics - source for U.S. economic data, reports, and publications. Examples of data include the Consumer Price Index, Consumer Expenditure Surveys, unemployment rates, and National Compensation Data.

  • U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis - source for U.S. economic news, research papers, and data on topics such as GDP, consumer spending, income & saving, industries, international trade, prices, inflation, and investment.
