Faculty Services

Below is a list and description of various faculty services. If you don’t see what you’re looking for or have any questions, please Contact the Library.

Library Resources

Faculty have access to all of the library’s resources (of course), including books, articles, and all databases. Materials not available through the library can be requested via interlibrary loan.

Library Instruction

Instruction Librarians Anne Cox (School of Integrative Studies) and Emma Fernandez (School of Health Sciences and The Conservatory) offer a variety of ways for your students to get to know the library and the resources available. Introductory sessions can be as short as 10 minutes and up to a full class period. It’s your choice as far as time involved and content covered.

To setup an instruction session, complete the Instruction Request Form or contact Emma Fernandez (School of Health Sciences and The Conservatory) or Anne Cox (School of Integrative Studies) directly.

Course Reserves

Use course reserves to place materials behind the library main desk for limited check-out by your students. Reserve check-out periods can be set to two, four, or 24-hour periods, as well as two days.

You can provide your own copies of textbooks or other materials, and also request items currently in the library collection be added to your reserve shelf. Note that in general, the library does not purchase textbooks with library funds.

To place items on reserve, complete the Course Reserves Form and drop off any materials at the library main desk.

MOBIUS Consortium

Stephens College is a member of the MOBIUS Consortium, a group of approximately 60 libraries, mostly academic, from Missouri and its surrounding states. The main benefits include:

  • Ability to search the MOBIUS Catalog and request books on your own using the “Request It” feature. Books generally arrive at the Stephens Library in three to four working days, and the library will send you an email notification when your item(s) is ready to be picked up. You can even request that a book be sent to any (non-Stephens) member library for pickup.

  • Ability to use the physical libraries of all MOBIUS Member Libraries. Books can be checked out directly at a member library using your Stephens ID card. Returns can be made to any member library, including the Stephens Library.

Interlibrary Loan

Particular books, articles, and videos that are not immediately available at the library can be requested through Interlibrary Loan. Log in and fill out the appropriate form (article, book or dissertation, video).

Please note, before making a book request, check the MOBIUS Catalog. If available, you can request these books directly through the catalog. Books usually arrive within three working days.

Also, before making an article request, try the Stephens Library Quick Search. Any desired articles that are not immediately available can be more easily requested by using the "Request It” feature from within Quick Search.

Equipment Checkout

The library has available various items for checkout, including projectors, portable screens, and DSLR cameras. Use the AV Equipment Checkout page to see everything that’s available and to make a reservation.

Purchase Recommendations

To make recommendations for items or resources to be added to the library’s collection, please complete the Purchase Recommendation Form. We welcome your suggestions.

Subject Guides

The library has resource guides for all academic programs. See the bottom of the Library Homepage for a complete listing. We encourage you to link to your subject guide within Canvas. We can also make additional guides on any topic at your request. For more information, contact Emma Fernandez, Instruction Librarian for Health Sciences and the Conservatory, or Anne Cox, Instruction Librarian for Integrative Studies.
